HI Sharon

Our software doesn't always make it obvious (like most software!)

As long as you originally  enter the event yourself, you have editing permission. Go to the event, and up at the top right under the Menu bar you should see an 'Options' box next to '+Add' which is a drop down - and one of the options is to edit the event.  I have just set your events live and added some pictures myself...

Hi Keith, sorry to be a bit thick but I can't find out where to edit an event and would like to put a picture on.

Thanks Sharon

Hi Keith

I uploaded two events on Monday but only one has been approved.  Is there any way you can look into this to see what has happened to the other one, it's a free seminar.

Many thanks.

Lyn

Hi Clive

You can find a previous event using the Calendar if you know the date, or put a keyword or two into the Search box (top right) - in your case, BEA Caterham. Then you can open the event and provided you posted it yourself (and not me!) you can simply change the date and any details and Save it. The original event you amended is then lost, so you wouldn't want to do do it with current events.

The site won't allow you to post recurring events - which in some ways is a blessing! Imagine if all the breakfast groups were able to post one listing and have it repeat every week or fortnight - the Featured EVENTS listing would have forty plus breakfast meetings each week (8 per day) - very dull!  You can post ,say, the next three upcoming events (with a bit of copy and pasting) and then as soon as one expires, go in and update that to the next future slot - so you've always got three on the go.

I created the Rggular Group Meetings pages to cater for BNI, 4N etc so all their venues and days are on one page, with links to their sites. Occasionally  especially if a group is moving to a new venue, a new group is being launched, or there's a Visitors day, or if a Member posts it, I will have one of hese regular events in the Feautured EVENTS listing where it gets a whole page.

Hi Keith,

Is it possible to duplicate a previous event and then edit its details?

We have the same meeting format each month but need to change speaker and date details.

Many thanks,

Clive

Hi Keith

How do I remove / disable / hide past events?

Lizanne Jakobs Comment by Lizanne Jakobs on June 27, 2011 at 10:11am

Hi Keith,

I have uploaded an event, but it says it needs to be approved. Do you need to do that or is there something I should do to make it happen?

thanks,

Lizanne

Hi Paulette

You can't upload an offer yourself.  You need to email it to me and I'll upload and format it for you...

Hi Lyn

I've uploaded the image OK, so the short answer is - I honestly don't know!

My sequence of actions:

1. Click 'Edit Event'

2. Click the camera icon next to 'Event image'

3. In the 'Upload an Image...' box click 'Browse'

4. Choose the image from my PC

5. Click 'Done'

6. Click 'Save' at the bottom of the page

If you're doing the same I can't see why it isn't working. Please let me know and I'll investigate further!

Hi Keith

I'm afraid that I'm having problems again.  For some reason I can't upload the Jelly image onto the event, every time I go to upload the page disappears on me?  Grateful if you could help please. Lyn

Ning can be tempereamental at times! It is there and awaiting approval - or to be more accurate awaiting me tweaking it a bit. I had a long chat withh Graham Reeves this morning, and among other things asked if he could send me a decent BB logo - preferable a square-ish version.  What he's sent is a not very high-res jpeg, and unfortunately their slender font doesn't perform very well in low-res lossy jpeg form. I'll keep chasing - and meanwhile I'll set yor event live now and tweak it later!

Hi Keith, I had a lot of problems loading the Business Biscotti event in Caterham on 23 Feb 2011 yesterday.  It eventually accepted it (after the 4th attempt) but it is not appearing in the events list and it doesn't say that it is awaiting approval. Can you help? Lyn
Lesley Vaughan Comment by Lesley Vaughan on March 25, 2010 at 5:32pm
Keith, Please advise what I am doing wrong. When I go into an existing event and edit it, the changes do not reflect on the Events Page. Example,18 March at Oatlands Park Hotel has been changed to 1 April, the change does not appear on the general page of events, only on My Page. Lesley

Hi Robyn

Yep, guilty as charged! Even if you don't get time to post them, I like to keep Members' events listed so I'll do my best!

Hi Keith, was it you who added the details of our Esher Athena launch? If so, THANK YOU! It's been so busy at Athena that my "to do" has been never-ending! Great to meet yu at the Expo too - thank you for coming across to say hi.

Hi Sally-Ann

Great!

I think the photo is just fine - and your version is higher res than what I grabbed from your site. It doesn't have the cropping problem either. Thanks for persisting with this...

Best regards

HI Keith,

Many thanks! I did forget to save it. I will try and get another photo but this will have to do for now.

Kind regards

Hi Sally-Ann

Is it the photo you have on your website? I have copied that and inserted it into my own page (so for a spooky few seconds, I was you :-) It wasn't entirely successful because that photo has been unusually cropped and shows white space around it when it's uploaded. If you have a higher res photo tha would be better.

So, just to recap what you're doing...

You go to your photo on your My Page
You click on Change Photo
You get to the My Settings page
You click Browse next to the photo box
You get the Choose File window
You navigate to the photo on your machine and click on it
You click Open, and the file pathe appears in the photo box (next to the Browse button
Then - and this is what I often forget to do - you go to the bottom of the page and click the blue Save button

If you're still having no luck, please get back to me - we'll crack this! Remember David Hillis famous definition (re-iterated by Douglas Adams): 'Technology = stuff that doesn't work yet!'

Thanks Keith, I did that, put the photo name in the browser and asked it to open but it won't do it!
