The Wake-Up Call

On Monday, April 19th, I got the "Wake-Up Call". I was admitted to the Royal Surrey County Hospital, at 11:30pm, with chest pains.A few days later, Thursday 22nd April, I was released and allowed Home.Of course, I have now made some major lifestyle changes, and I feel the better for them. But I know others who have ignored that call ...That incident brought close to me just how fragile our existence can be, on this planet. The message is simple: don't neglect your health - without good health,…See More

If you were Prime Minister - What would be your first ten priorities ?

This is probably the hardest job to perform in the UK, and the hardest question to answer. We have all probably "put the world to rights" at some stage or another, but in the present circumstances, our 'collective wisdom' MUST produce some valid points. As youngsters, we probably dreamed "If I were King/Queen ... " and later "If I were Prime Minister ... ".Well, this country is (technically) in Depression, but being an Election Year, I doubt that any politician dare utter those words.  Very soon,…See More

The Politics of Stupidity

Now that the battle is one for the Leadership of the UK Parliament, just watch out for the stupid and ignorant 'pledges'.

I refer to the so-called 'cost saving' exercises whereby someone might say "In order to fund this (freebie), we will cancel (name of contract)".

Sounds good, doesn't it ? "If something sounds too good to be true - it isn't true". And that is usually the case for the above stereotype promise.

Why ? Simple - the Party concerned plans to cancel a CONTRACT. Now, for those of you who are savvy about Contract Law, you have probably already fallen about, laughing. The problem is, the fools who make such promises FAIL to recognise that most Contracts with HMG have serious Penalty Clauses built in. And so, when a new Government tries to cancel a Contract, they find that the overall Costs exceed the original Contract Value. That's what Penalty Clauses are there for - to stop Contractors OR Government pulling out of the Contract.

So, the next time you hear a Politician making such promises, start searching the sky for squadrons of flying pigs. It just doesn't work that way.

Hi there

Yes I had an offer on last month for free meeting room hire for the month of June.

It was great we had lots of networking here in June, and workshops, see my blogs.

But if you want to try them out - I will let you have half price.

I now have a new meeting room on the first floor with excellent facilities. Pop in and have a browse around if you like.
