Interest rate rise in June ?

The Telegraph reports that interest rates could very well increase in June, following the surprising inflation figures.

A rate rise would end a two-year period of stability, when interest rates lay at a record low of 0.5 per cent. A move upwards could add hundreds of pounds to many homeowner's mortgages but offer relief to 38 million savers, who have suffered from pitiful returns in since the financial crisis…

How to set up a website for your business (part 2)

In the first part of this series we looked at registering your website's domain name and hosting. In this post we'll take a look at the design and development of the site itself.

Website design and development

The process of creating a website can be divided into two stages: design and development. At the design stage, you come up with a number of different looks for the website. During the development phase, the developer will translate these looks into code which can…

Fixed rate mortgage demand set to soar

Lenders are expecting a surge in demand for fixed-rate mortgages after inflation rose by the fastest rate on record last month.
Experts warned that the cost of borrowing could soon increase as the CPI measure of inflation jumped to 3.7% in December, up from 3.3% the previous month, the Times reports.…

Lets begin by busting the myth that you catch a cold if you go out in the cold with wet hair.  Cold is a virus and you can only get it from somebody else or from germs in the environment around you.

How does a virus work? In order to take hold, a virus must get inside the cells and re-programme them to replicate more viruses, which then infect other surrounding cells.

So what happens when your body is under attack?  Firstly your body will only succumb…

Serous concerns over the lack of financial protection and planning in the UK

As a financial professional it always amazes me how so many of the people I meet prioritise insuring their pets, or even their phone, over and above themselves or their business - when the reality is, without their health and therefore their capacity to generate an income, all other insurances are irrelevant, as there will be no income to pay them.

How to set up a website for your business (part 1)

In this two part series we'l examine what it takes to get your business online.

If you're not familiar with the procedure, setting up your website can be a complex process involving various different companies and lots of confusing jargon. Your website is your business' shop window on the internet, though, so make sure you make the best impression possible to entice customers and encourage them to return.

Getting Out and About

I've been thinking.  No, it didn't hurt too much!  Meeting new people is great; as is getting to know people better.  It never ceases to amaze me just how interesting people can be and where conversations may lead.  Oooh, don't you just love it!

Now, I'm going to get out and about myself!

Why Network?

It occurred to me yesterday that although networking seems an obvious thing for me to do when running a business we don’t all think like that.

I certainly didn’t. I remember being thrust into a BNI meeting, having no understanding of how it works, no networking etiquette and leaving feeling completely bewildered but compelled to go again and immerse myself into the world of ‘networking’.

It soon became apparent that we all network for a variety of reasons. For some it is…

office space?

Hi all!

I'm a new recruit to NIS and hope to meet all the members during 2011. I'm a graphic designer, working from my Mac and mobile phone and outsource/subcontract resources when required by my clients. I live in Kingston, Surrey... have a car available so am flexible! Any opportunities will be given full…
