So, the gales are upon us, it gets dark at 4pm, and 'It's' back to haunt us - by which I mean the dreaded 'C' word - Xmas! Stopping some way short of 'bah, humbug!', I'd like to register a mild 'tut-tut' at being bombarded with tinsel and teddy bears 'from here to Nativity', on TV, in shops, in magazines and through the letter box.
Having said that, I'm more than happy to have lots of Christmas specials in our Featured EVENTS listings, as and when organisers are ready to post them. New Member Sandy Scott (Welcome, Sandy!) has got in early and started the ball rolling with the Elmbridge Women in Business Xmas party in Weybridge open to non-Members (women only - sorry chaps!)
Once again we've been joined by a host of new Members this week including Philippa Berry, Martyn Stead, Anna Haynes, Gerry Brierley, Ingrid Niang, Beverley Ames-Rooks, Elizabeth Clark, Sheree Lowe, Martine Goddard, Mike Loughton, Dorothy Ronan, Liz Lunn, David Endersby, Adrian Fowles, Keely Buston, Peter Wilford, Martyn J Robinson, Nicky Kriel, Paula Parer, and Julia McPherson - which takes us up to 261 Members at the time of writing this - fantastic!
We'd love to reach 400 by the end of 2010, so please do your Surrey contacts who haven't found us yet a favour by letting them know about NiS. It's dead easy using the Invite button on the Home Page - just write a short message up to 200 characters (or copy and paste this one!):
"Check out NetworkingInSurrey.com’s free listings – I use them to plan my business networking diary. Membership's free too, so please join and add me as a Friend to stay in touch!"
Then put in some contacts' emails (separated by commas) and whizz it off to them all at once. We have tickets worth £50 each to next week's E2 Live event at ExCel London for the two people who recruit the most new Members by Tuesday evening - so do it now, and we'll see you there!
There's lots of free networking in the EVENTS listings as usual - we've listed over 70 free events this year so far - and remember to check out the Regular Group Meetings and get yourself invited along as a guest to see all they have to offer. We're even featuring 2020 Social Media in Marlow - a free Guest Event from Networking in Berkshire posted by NiB Member Jon Davey (of Business in Berkshire fame - top networker!)
Diary of a Networker...
Well, shiver me timbers, I have to admit I haven't been networking this week at all (yet!) I did attend a fantastic business briefing in Guildford on Monday organised by new NiS Member Tessa Hood (Tricia Woolfrey was there too) and I'm off to Bob Gardner's LinkedIn Surrey Networkers bash in Woking this evening, and 4Networking in Guildford tomorrow. Three times in a week is below average for me - but I did do the pub quiz at my local (we didn't win - again :0) which is social, if not networking... Remember to Invite some contacts to join our happy band, for your chance of a £50 ticket to E2.
